1949 Ty Cobb Single Singed Baseball. Simply outstanding specimen ranks among the very finest Cobb singles to have reached the auction block in recent memory. While the Babe Ruth single is considered the "must have" piece for any serious baseball autograph collection, we would humbly suggest that the Cobb single is just as important. The first member of the exclusive 4,000 Hit Club has left his mark on this Spalding Official National League (Frick) baseball in rare black pen. Ty Cobb is arguably the greatest ballplayer of all time. Setting ninety major league records while he played, many of these remain intact, including highest lifetime batting average (.367) and most career batting titles with twelve. Cobb was legendary for his aggressive playing style and penchant for fighting, although much of his perceived negative personality has been discredited as mostly myth. Still, it hasn't hurt Cobb's standing in baseball lore as he remains one of the most highly collected players in the history of the sport.

Here we find him nearly a half-century after his Major League debut, his fierce competitiveness long since directed from the baseball diamond to the stock market, where he once again asserted his dominion. We see that confident nature in the bold, oversized side panel application of his essential autograph, underscored with the "July 8th-49" date of the occasion. The black ink signature and inscription bold without any fading or blemishes to the "Cobb" or the inscription. The baseball is lightly and evenly toned throughout with an overall white color and prominent factory stamping.

This impressive single signed ball will be a welcome addition to any high-end baseball collection, for the collector who will settle for nothing but the best. Authentication by James Spence Authentication (JSA) & PSA/DNA Graded 8 Near Mint - Mint!
