Abraham Lincoln was the 16th President of the United States, serving from 1861 until his assassination in April 1865. Offered here is an appointment document dated March 28th, 1861, appointing Moses Drake Jr. as the Deputy Postmaster at Fort Wayne, Indiana. It is signed nicely at the bottom by President Lincoln and countersigned by Secretary of State, William H. Seward. The Presidential seal is still intact and the document is in overall fine condition with intersecting horizontal and vertical folds and light paper loss where those creases meet in the center. A fantastic historic document (one of the nicest we have ever offered!) commemorating one of the greatest Presidents in U.S. history. Accompanied by a full Letter of Authenticity from Beckett Authentication Services (BAS), with Lincoln's signature grading an incredible MINT 9!
