Michael Jordan is considered the greatest basketball player of all time. He redefined the term "Superstar" and became the epitome of legendary with his style, grace and dominance on and off the court-all while earning the respect and admiration of his fans and rivals. In 1990, the Bulls finished in first place in the Central Division, as well as first overall in the Eastern Conference with a 61–21 record, surpassing their previous franchise-best from the 1971–72 season. Michael Jordan was as spectacular as ever winning another scoring title and his second MVP award, while being selected for the 1991 NBA All-Star Game. In the postseason Michael Jordan and his Chicago Bulls would go on to win the first of six NBA Championships defeating the Lakers four games to one. This 1990-91 Chicago Bulls White Michael Jordan Jersey features both the neck and arm openings trimmed with red/black/white/black/red ribbing. The NBA logo is found on the left upper chest which became league mandated during the 1986 season. The team name “BULLS”, “23” front/reverse, and “JORDAN” is applied directly on the reverse of the jersey in block letter red applique. The style of the Champion tag dates to the 1990-91 season (courtesy of the MEARS Tagging Database). Champion was the correct supplier of 1990-91 Chicago Bulls jerseys. Printed on the Champion manufacturers tag is the size 46. Actual chest measurement verifies that the jersey does indeed match the tagged size. Jordan was verified as wearing size 44 during the 1984-1990 time frame. During 1990, he switched to size 46. The jersey exhibits light but visible game wear and includes the interior tag printed, 3” Extra Length. The jersey originates directly from former Gatorade VP Bill Schmidt, the man widely considered responsible for signing Jordan to Gatorade, and was consigned directly to Steiner Auctions, giving the jersey a perfect chain of custody from Jordan originally. While we are not certain why the Jersey received only an A5 Grade considering the provenance (although all characteristic are present and have been confirmed by MEARS Authentication as accurate), we are certain that the correlation between the Jordan and Schmidt makes this one of the finer 1990-91 examples in the hobby. The Jersey comes with MEARS Paperwork and tagging as well as a Full JSA LOA for the signature.
