1951 Bowman Mickey Mantle Rookie #253 PSA NM-MT 8(OC). Collectors regularly state that the 1952 Topps card is Mickey Mantle’s true rookie, but the '51 Bowman was actually the first. This Near-Mint/Mint Mantle rookie card is one of the most coveted baseball cards ever printed. Bowman designs of the early 1950's represent one of the greatest achievements in card aesthetics. There is no greater example than the brightly colored image of the nineteen-year old Mantle batting against a cloud spotted sky on this high-grade rarity.

Educated collectors will understand the difficulty in achieving a NM-MT assessment on any 1951 Bowman, particularly those from the high-number series, which is led off by the Mick. Gum and wax stains plague the issue, and the total graded population of the set is less than half that of the 1952 Topps breed that serves as its primary competition.

Top-tier Mantle rookie cards have been enjoying a sustained value surge for the past twenty years, with a noticeable spike in the past twenty-four months. In the last year, multiple 1951 Bowman Mantle PSA 8 cards have each sold for over $200,000 and a PSA 9 for $750,000. Investment-minded collectors take note. PSA Encapsulated 8 (OC) NM-MT
