1909-1911 T206 Piedmont Ty Cobb (Red Portrait) PSA NM-MT 8 (OC). When factoring condition into the calculation, this beautiful card is even more scarce than the vaunted T206 Honus Wagner that has captured the imagination of the hobby for over a century. Only twenty-one other red-portrait Cobbs share this example's lofty NM-MT 8 rating, a status surpassed only twice, both graded 8.5, in the history of PSA there has never been a 9 grade issued to a T206 Cobb red portrait card.

It is only a left shift of the image that restricts this card from entry to the never-touched 9 grade of the PSA grading structure, a shortcoming that is easier to dismiss in cards issued during the Dead Ball Era when old-fashioned production methods nearly guaranteed flawed centering. The color and registration are effectively flawless, and a stunning absence of wear leaves the corners as sharp as Cobb's famous temper. A gorgeous representation for the uncompromising collector. In a 2016 auction a PSA 8 NM-MT example sold for just over $40,000 and within the last 12 months another PSA 8 sold for $56,000. PSA Encapsulated 8 (OC) NM-MT
