Johnny Damon is one of the best pure lead-off hitters in baseball and for years was the heart and soul of the Red Sox Nation. Thanks in large part to his energy, love of the game and clutch hits, Boston beat their dreaded rivals, the New York Yankees, on the way to winning the 2004 World Series, the team's first Championship in 86 years. Now that Damon is in pinstripes and roaming center field, where DiMaggio, Mantle and Williams once played, new chapters in Damon's career and in the storied Yankees-Red Sox rivalry are being written. Johnny Damon has hand signed this 8x10 photograph of him in action as a Yankee, hitting a lead-off triple against the Boston Red Sox on August 18, 2006, at Fenway Park. A Steiner Sports Certificate of Authenticity is included.
Yankee stadium hosted some of the most prominent moments in sports history and was home to baseball greats such as Mickey Mantle, Babe Ruth, Lou Gehrig, Joe DiMaggio and Roger Maris. It featured Gehrig?s farewell speech, Larsen?s World Series perfect game, Maris 61st HR, Reggie Jacksons 1977 3 HR World Series game. The 1998 Yankees, who completed the one of the greatest seasons in sports history, played here. It featured those memorable 2001 World Series thrills and goodbyes, the 2003 Aaron Boone Walk Off, and more recently Derek Jeter?s Amazing dive and Alex Rodriguez?s 500th HR. Fittingly, during the final home stand, Derek Jeter became the all time hit leader at Yankee Stadium, passing Lou Gehrig and sealing a record that can never be broken. 2008 Marked the end of an American era in sports. On September 21st, 2008 on a Sunday evening in the Bronx, NY, Yankee Stadium opened its hallowed gates one final time, the historic park, which had hosted 39 World Series and 26 Championships teams, was finally coming to a close. In the most fitting of fashions, the Yankees won their final game ever at Yankee Stadium, 7-3, over a familiar rival, the Baltimore Orioles. Fittingly, the game was closed out by arguably the best to ever do it, Mariano Rivera, and featured players Derek Jeter and Alex Rodriguez, amongst others future Hall Of Famers. The night also featured a fantastic pre-game ceremony, as well as visits from some Yankees classics Including Berra, Ford, Larsen, O?Neill, Martinez and Williams. This 14x20 Framed Yogi Berra Speech commemorates his video address to the fans during that final ceremony, with a transcript of the exact speech, and is a must own for any Yankees or baseball fan.
