Edward "Whitey" Ford's control and precision as pitcher of the New York Yankees is what led team manager Casey Stengel to refer to him as the "money pitcher." The eight-time All-Star won 10 of his 22 World Series appearances, the most pitcher appearances ever, and earned the Cy Young Award in 1961. "The Chairman of the Board," a nickname given to him for confidence and intelligence on the mound, was inducted into the Baseball Hall of Fame in 1974. This official MLB baseball has been hand signed by Whitey Ford with the inscription, "HOF 74." A Steiner Sports Certificate of Authenticity is included. In 22 years with nine Major League teams, Gossage made four postseason appearances, compiled 310 career saves and in 1977 set the record for relief pitchers with a 155 strikeouts that season. In an 11-year period, he made nine All-Star Game appearances and had an ERA of 2.27 or lower in eight of those years.
