Stan Musial played 22 seasons in the big leagues all with the St. Louis Cardinals. Originally a Class C pitcher, Musial transformed into a dominating outfielder winning seven NL batting titles with his famous corkscrew stance. A 3-Time NL MVP, Musial played in 24 All-Star Games and won 3 World Series Championships 1942, 1944, and 1946. Musial was elected to Baseball's Hall of Fame in 1969 and is also a member of baseballs All-Century team.
Featured in this lot is a game used bat worthy of Cooperstown. This Louisville Slugger shows appropriate aging for its time frame. "MUSIAL MODEL" is etched in to the top of the bat. Additional markings include the traditional Louisville Slugger oval logo, as well as "MADE IN USA".
Game used Musial bats are extremely valuable and scarce. The handle is scored as per Musial's traditional game used bat characteristics. The bat is believed to be from the 1957 season or from a similar time frame. Game used Musial bats routinely fetch five figures. According to PSA, in 2009 a game used bat that was signed by Musial sold for over $40,000.
This bat shows excellent use including a crack, significantly increasing its value. This bat is authenticated by PSA/DNA. This bat is sure to become a solid investment for its next owner as time goes by.
