They don't get more legendary or iconic than one Mickey Charles Mantle. 20-time All-Star, 7-time World Champion, 3-time MVP, 1956 Triple Crown winner. The Mick. Seven. After God created Mickey Mantle, He shattered the mold in a million little pieces. Most sports collectibles bring you closer to the player. But this one brings you closer to Mickey Mantle the man - the person - than almost any item could. It's the official "Uniform Players Contract" of the "American League of Professional Baseball Clubs" that Mantle signed to play for the Yankees for the 1960 season. (Due to baseball's "reserve clause," all contracts were for one year, at that time.) In other words, this is the actual document that granted Mantle employment in 1960. This is a document that proves that in between hitting tape measure home runs and squiring models around New York City, Mickey Mantle needed to collect a paycheck, just like everyone else. Mickey Mantle-signed baseballs are special enough, but compared to something like this. they're all too "common"! Even better - Proceeds from the sale of this unique document will go towards helping victims of 2012 Hurricane Sandy - specifically, 50% to New York victims and 50% to those in New Jersey. The Mantle family has a very strong connection to New Jersey, as the state is where Mantle chose to raise his family while playing for the Yankees. A letter from Mary Pat Christie expressing her gratitude and emotions can be seen in the last picture.
