Jacques Plante was a Canadian professional ice hockey goaltender. His entire hockey career spanned four decades and his time in the NHL was from 1952-1973. He is widely known for being the first goalie to ever wear a mask, which was in 1952 while he played for the Montreal Canadiens. He developed a well-earned reputation for his ability to analyze a hockey game and became one of the first goaltenders to write a how-to book about the position. Plante was inducted into the Hockey Hall of Fame in 1978. This lot includes a signed black-and-white photo of Plante donning a Canadiens jersey while wearing a mask.
