Hailing from Puerto Rico, Roberto Clemente played 18 seasons for the Pittsburgh Pirates, from 1955 through 1972. A 15-time All-Star, Clemente won the National League MVP in 1966. He also earned 12 Gold Glove Awards, and led the NL in batting average four times. In 1972, Clemente got his 3,000th major league hit. Tragically, he died in a plane crash later that year, on New Year’s Eve. Clemente had been on his way to Nicaragua to deliver aid to the country after a massive earthquake; the Hall of Famer was only 38 years old. In Clemente's Final at Bat of his Career he hit a double off the Mets Pitcher Jon Matlock for his 3000 hit. This 12x17 Poster of Roberto Clemente commemorates him joining the exclusive 3000 Hit Club. The poster is Hand Signed by Roberto in black ball point pen. Roberto has personalized the poster To Helen. A JSA Full Letter of Authenticity is included. This Item will come framed as pictured. Clemente died shortly after the 1972 season making the time window for this poster to be made and then signed very limited.
