100% of the proceeds from this auction will be donated to the The Colby Heart Transplant Fund. When Colby Salerno was 12 years old, he was diagnosed with hypertrophic cardiomyopathy, and for 10 years lived knowing his heart functioned at levels far below that of a normal heart. At age 22 Colby was told he needed a heart transplant. He spent 180 days at Hartford Hospital waiting for a donor heart to arrive. While waiting, Colby started a blog, “Tales from the 10th Floor,” which documented his experience and his life waiting for a donor heart. After 6 months of waiting it finally came, and on May 30th 2012 Colby had his operation, he was one of about 20 heart transplants that Hartford Hospital does a year. Now, 2 years later, Colby is staying healthy with his new heart, and has been accepted to medical school. Colby has the dream of giving back to those who battle similar heart diseases by studying to become a cardiologist. With all the support recently going to keeping him healthy, Steiner Sports is raising funds to make Colby’s dream of graduating Medical School a reality. 100% of the proceeds from “this auction” will go to “The Colby Heart Transplant Fund”.
